Why
Humanities? St. Johnsbury Academy instituted the Freshman
Humanities program to provide Freshmen with a year long, interdisciplinary
course that introduces students to the skills they need to be successful at
the Academy and beyond. In this cross-disciplinary, writing-intensive
course, students will apply the skills they learn in the areas of
composition, critical thinking, and problem solving to their study in this
year-long course. Students will
examine primary and secondary historical texts, classical mythology,
religious texts, canonical literature, and contemporary works as a means of
building connections to the course’s guiding themes. |
